What you might not know about.... Pumpkins!

Im starting a series about nutrition titled:
"What you might not know about...."
This week is pumpkin. This time of year you see pumpkins everywhere. Front entrance of your nearest grocery store, or the entry to your home!
One of my favorite ways to eat pumpkin is dr axe'a pumpkin blueberry pancakes! I love these, been making them for years. Just the thought of them, makes me want to go make them!!

But what you might not know about pumpkin... Is Pumpkins are ONE of the most popular crop in the United States. Over 1 Billion Pounds every year! Also, did you know most canned pumpkin, doesn't even contain any pumpkin. It's typically filled with a winter squash (which is in the family group of pumpkin).Which is why i typically will buy organic canned pumpkin, looks something like this:
This one has pumpkin in it!!
And here's one with sweet potatos!

Pumpkin nutrition:
•high in Vitamin A
• high in vitamin C
• high in potassium
These 3 values will boost your health for the winter season of flu, and other illnesses. We will consume pumpkin atleast twice a week in our house!
It taste so yummy!
FYI- you must try a pumpkin spice latte from whole foods, I must say I will never go back to Starbucks for one. Whole foods is worth the drive to get a pumpkin spice latte. Because if you didn't know already Starbucks calls it that, but in reality it doesn't even contain any real pumpkin in it! No joke!!

Also, local north Texas friends just a heads up whole foods has organic pears for $1.69LB!
I got crazy excited, and bought 5 pounds, I got home washed, sliced and froze 4 of the pounds. The others will be devoured in a day or 2!
Hope this information helps!!
